Plant a Family Garden
This is going to be a blast. Not only will it result in a beautiful creation, but you’ll also have spent the day outdoors with your kiddos. Go to the store as a family and pick out your favorites, then get to planting. An added bonus of this activity is that it’s an excellent way to teach your kids responsibility. They won’t even notice, though, because it’ll be disguised as a good time.
Picnic at the Park
Simple, yet effective. Stop at the store and let everyone pick out an item or two to contribute, and then take it all to the park and chow down. While you’re there, play a game of tag or take a walk. The more time you can spend outside, the better. This can also be done successfully in your own backyard for even more convenience.
Scavenger Hunting
It’s time for the kids to show off their skills! Mom and dad, write down some items you know anyone could find in your backyard, and then whoever brings back the most objects wins. Some good ideas include leaves, pinecones, rocks, etc. Get creative here, it’ll make it even more of a challenge.
Outdoor Painting
Not only will you be giving everyone some real-life inspiration to paint, but there’s also just something so special about painting under the sunshine. It’s so refreshing and really gets those creative juices flowing. Who knows, you might just have a little Picasso on your hands.

Pick Some Fruit
It’s no secret that produce is at its peak in the summertime. Take advantage of this by grabbing a bucket and heading off to pick blueberries or strawberries. This can also double as a baking day, where you can make delicious creations with the fresh fruit you’ve picked. Our fav? Blueberry pie!
