Keep Your Vehicle In Top Shop With These 3 Maintenance Tips

Oct 25, 2021

As a vehicle owner, you might be thinking, what’s the secret to getting maximum use out of your vehicle? The truth is, it’s no secret, as staying up to date with maintenance is the lifeline to your car. If you find it difficult to keep up with all of that vehicle maintenance entails, read over these tips and see how simple and inexpensive being a responsible vehicle owner can be.

Changing the Oil

Replacing an engine is a hefty repair, and the best way to avoid that dent in your monthly budget is with routine oil changes. With older vehicle models, you may need an oil change as often as every 3,000 miles, but if you have purchased your vehicle in the last several years, you may be able to get away with every 5,000 to 7,000 miles. When in doubt, check your manufacturer’s owner’s manual for a more accurate recommendation. Other factors that affect your oil level include idling often, driving in lots of stop-and-go traffic, and extreme weather conditions. Ensure your engine is protected and lubricated with a fresh dose of oil, as this service is both quick and easy on the wallet!

Changing the Brake Fluid

Let’s be honest, we owe a lot to the brakes on our car. Not only do they avoid ugly car collisions and put your car to a stop with little notice, but they keep you safe. The least you can do is return the favor to your brakes with optimal care. You should check the brake fluid often, as it attracts unwanted moisture. If that moisture stays for too long, it will lead to your brakes rusting and corroding, which will result in unfunctional brakes. You don’t want these guys to let out when you are in a bind, right?

Make Time for Tire Maintenance

There’s nothing worse than hearing, “It’s time for new tires.” Not only are they expensive, but they probably didn’t last you as long as you had planned. First, to ensure they are not wearing down on the same side, every time you get an oil change, have your tires rotated as well. Also, check your owner’s manual for optimal tire pressure, as underinflated or overinflated tires will lead to worn down tires as well.
