Take Care Of Your Tires With These Tips

Jun 13, 2022

Taking care of your vehicle means taking care of your tires. When you’re talking about vehicle safety and performance, your tires play a key part in ensuring your vehicle is safe. Sometimes talking about car maintenance can get old, but these topics are important to keep in mind if you have a car to prevent performance and safety issues. That’s why we have some tips on how to take care of your tires so, you can drive safely.

Tread Wear

Your tires are constantly creating friction when your vehicle is in motion. That means that the tread on your tires starts to wear down after a certain period. Eventually, you will need new tires. Tread is imperative for your vehicle to maintain traction in various forms of weather conditions and roads. Tread wears and even rubber tires can become hard and crack. These various conditions can make it difficult to break and handle your vehicle while driving.

The penny test is a simple way to check the wear on your tires. Take the penny and place it vertically between the tread grooves. The head should be faced down. Get down at eye level and see how much of the penny is covered. If the head of the penny is visible, then your tread is worn, and your tires need to be replaced.

If you have a tire that is completely flat and has a hole in it, you’ll need to replace the tire. Sometimes all it takes is simply bumping a curb or hitting a bump in the road. If the puncture isn’t obvious, you may need to test it further.
